V.P. and Treasurer Tanya Wicks is offering a volunteer opportunity on behalf of an organization she is working with.
----------------------------- On Thursday October 29th VCC will be providing HIV testing services to the community of Pacoima. We will be attending the Health and Safety Fair and can use a few volunteers to help out. Please let me know if yourself and others are available on this day. The time is 12-6pm. Hello members, just a reminder that there is a HESO meeting on Thursday - hope to see everyone there. Please make sure you've paid your due and come with thoughts on fundraising/social ideas.
Also, thanks to everyone who helped make the H1N1 Booth and Handwashing Exercise a great function - we reached over 800 people on campus! If you volunteered, be sure to fill out the Service Hours Form from the homepage, and turn it in online or in-person at the next meeting. This Thursday, September 10th, HESO will be hosting a group advisement session with a panel of faculty advisors between 2:00 and 3:00 PM in JD 2528. Donations for non-HESO members are suggested but surely not required.
Welcome back HESO members, I hope that you are all settling in well to your first week of classes. This Thursday, September 3rd, HESO members will be gathering in Jacaranda Hall 2528 from 2:15PM-3:15PM for their first general meeting of the Fall 2009 semester. Bring your friends, and anyone you may know that's interested in promoting health and wellness. We have so many great things lined up, and there will be free healthy food at every event! We hope to see you there! JADE, Joint Advocates on Disordered Eating, is a peer education program where students give presentations and facilitate events throughout campus after appropriate training, while receiving 3 units each semester for their involvement. At this time in the semester, I am soliciting applications from students who wish to be JADE peer educators for the 2009-2010 academic year. Students accepted before the end of the semester will receive priority registration for the Fall. I would greatly appreciate you announcing this opportunity in your classes.
